NCCT launches it’s “Vaakkali Thamila - GOTV” campaign leading up to the Federal, Provincial and Municipal elections. The campaign focusses on the community understanding the importance of exercising their right to vote.
Regardless of which candidates may win, high voter turnout ensures that Torontonians were engaged in the electoral process. There was community involvement in all areas of the electoral process, from candidacy, to volunteers, to voter turnout. The voter turnout for this year’s elections was over 50 percent, compared to the 36 percent voter turnout in the previous elections.
The “Vaakkali
Thamila” campaign’s main goal was to ensure better voter
turnout both within the community and in the city,
province and country as a whole, and from the numbers
the campaign has achieved its goal. NCCT would like to
thank everyone who participated in the electoral process
and is hoping to articulate the needs of the community
to those who will hold office.
